Does Forid Drain Gel Cleaner Work Well?
Forid is an concentrated organic drain gel cleaner. It is one of the many drain fly gels on the market. Like many other drain gels, Forid works by dissolving scum and buildup inside pipes where drain flies breed. With an average price of $37 for 64 ounces, Forid is on the more expensive end of the spectrum. We all know just how tricky getting rid of an infestation can be. The high cost of fly removal or control products makes it imperative to find one that works immediately. The question is, does it work?
High-End Drain Gel for Heavy Infestation
Treating drain flies requires some research to find out where they are coming from. Once you located the source, one of the easiest treatment methods is to scrub the pipes with a drain brush and then pour in some drain gel. Forid is contains microbial grease degraders, which break down grease molecule buildup in pipes. It can help control drain flies, phorid flies and fruit flies.
This gel in not meant to be diluted prior to treatment and can also be effective when used as a foam. There is no specific scent advertised, and the official label simply states “characteristic.” It is not an insecticide. It works by eliminating fly breeding grounds, which is key to stopping and preventing infestation.

Common Questions About Forid Drain Fly Gel
User Reviews
The Only Thing That Worked!
We bought lots of products but none worked on the horrid tiny flies! Our house is spotless so we couldn’t imagine where they were coming from. We had a pest control company come and they used a foam in our drains but it had no effect!
I found your website and figured I had nothing to lose. The foggers were not needed because the drain gel appears to have eradicated the problem. You saved us from a dreadful situation!
Tips For Best Results
Forid comes with an easy-to-use measuring cup. Simply tip the liquid into the cup to measure our 4 ounces. To treat drains, pour the product around the drain opening, making sure to coat the sides of the drain. This enables the gel to run down the sides of the piping for best results. Use Forid at night, or when the drain or sink will not be used for an extended period of time.
As Forid sits, it breaks down the flies’ breeding grounds, but does not kill flies. It should be used with an insect growth regulator, and aerosol to kill the adult flies. An insect growth regulator, such as Gentrol, will prevent new fly lifecycle’s after treatment.
Do not mix this product with harsh chemicals such as Drano, which can reduce it effectiveness. However, if the drain is completely clogged, treat the stoppage before initiating a drain fly treatment program.
